Separate from expectations, stigmas, social peacockery, and any pervading eyes of others, make a list of things you really, truly enjoy. Large or small. What remains when no one’s watching?
- A hobby.
- A specific author.
- The smell of someone’s hair.
- The sound of animals drinking.
- A certain bird’s call.
- Purple and rainbows.
- Sun warming your skin. (Thomas Jefferson called the Sun his “almighty physician”.)
- Spitting outdoors.
- Peeing outdoors.
- Very tall trees.
- Throwing rocks.
- Someone’s voice.
“Of any activity you do, ask yourself: If I were the last person on earth, would I still do it?”
~Steven Pressfield, The War of Art (Book)
